Top 5 reasons for segregating your facility

1. Maximising existing storage space

Increased business demands or branching into new avenues within a business, can leave companies looking for extra space. Often the easiest and most cost-effective way to do this is by maximising existing space. This could be by reconfiguring the layout of the warehouse or even by enclosing a mezzanine. Flexiwall challenges the conventional permanent partition by offering a more cost-effective solution; being quicker and less disruptive to install. Flexiwall solutions are easily designed to fit around protrusions and awkward elements too. You can see examples of Flexiwall in action by looking at our Allport Cargo Services and Dempson projects.

2. Creating a temperature controlled environment

The need for temperature controlled environments is common within the food and pharmaceutical industries, where products are sensitive to changes in temperature. Maximising existing spaces is more cost-effective than renting another storage facility and, more often than not, delivering dual functions under the same roof is the best option. Segregating the warehouse to create a temperature controlled environment is therefore necessary and can be easily achieved with Flexiwall for temperature control. Due to the panels thermal properties, Flexiwall enables separate enclosures to operate at different temperatures and has been used in various projects such as Amcor.

3. Separation of food production lines

In the food industry, having multiple production lines within the same facilities can be more cost-effective and more productive. However, if non-allergen and allergen foods are being produced in the same facility, the production lines must be adequately segregated for health and safety reasons and to minimise the risk of contamination. Examples of this include production of gluten-free and nut-free products which must be kept separate. Flexicurtain is a fixed system that allows food production lines to be segregated for cross contamination control.

4. Avoiding contamination during renovation works

It’s more cost-effective to keep facilities running as fully as possible whilst renovation works are carried out. However, this can be a cause for concern in certain industries such as food, medicine and even manufacturing when the prospect of contamination from dust and mess can be catastrophic. To avoid contamination during renovation works it is possible to segregate the works from the continuing warehouse processes. Due to the unique overlap system between panels, Flexiscreen offers a 99% dust tight seal. This system also creates less dust and mess during installation compared to timber stud or masonry partitions. Flexiscreen has been used by the likes of Marston’s Brewery for this very reason.

5. Maintaining hygiene standards during washdown procedures

It is often necessary to keep one production line fully functional whilst another is undergoing wash down procedures to ensure maximum output. However, this can cause hygiene issues if proper segregation is not in place. Flexicurtain is a production line washdown curtain. It decreases downtime by creating a barrier between lines in operation and lines being routinely cleaned, whilst still allowing for hygiene standards to be maintained. Flexicurtain has been used in a variety of projects including Birds Eye.
