Modern window films are excellent barriers that will provide superior solar protection as well as enhanced levels of privacy. We are pleased to supply a wide range of materials and solutions; each of these revolving around the needs of the customer and their particular project. Our technicians are also fully capable of installing simple to complex treatments and we only ever send industry-approved and accredited installation teams. However, many of our customers still have questions around the process itself and the steps that are involved in achieving a successful installation. Let us look at these concepts in closer detail.
Preparation
Before our window films are installed, there are some preliminary steps to perform. Firstly and most obviously, we will measure the dimensions of each of the windows in question, this helps with offsite prep. However, there can also be times when additional site surveys are required. This is normally the case for larger projects or when a substantial amount of planning is needed, such as road closures. Once these factors have been addressed, our professionals will carry out minor cleaning of the windows to ensure that the film firmly and seamlessly adheres to their surfaces. In certain circumstances where there is excess dirt, we can offer additional cleaning services ahead of the installation.
Addressing Various Heights
One very understandable concern often involves the height of the windows. We can work at heights of up to 2.7 metres using step ladders. When any windows are higher, we will be happy to perform a survey and procure the necessary equipment (such as boom lifts) to address these needs. Our in-house contracts team will source and manage the delivery and collection of all additional lift equipment to ensure that the client receives a full and hassle free service.
The Application of Window Films
If the previously mentioned requirements have been addressed, the next step is the physical installation process. The films will be cut slightly larger than the dimensions of the window (generally two to three centimetres). This will allow the film to be trimmed flush with the edges of the frame. A solution is applied to the glass before the film is pressed on. Our experts then use devices to smooth the surface of the film and force any underlying bubbles towards the edges. This helps to provide a clean and uniform appearance. Once the film has dried, any remaining water or solvents will be wiped away. This results in a beautiful and seamless appearance that can provide superior levels of privacy and shading.
Project Wait Times
It is also important to address the lead times that may be associated with any installation. Westgate Solar Control normally handles most large projects within two to three weeks of the original order. Smaller projects can be much quicker than this but of course, we are always working to the deadlines of the client and offer an honest and upfront approach to whether we can take a project deadline on.
Putting it All Together
So, we can see that the installation of this type of film involves a handful of discrete steps. These are:
- A survey of the job itself.
- Determining installation heights and window dimensions.
- Scheduling the day of the installation.
- Completing the installation with an attention to detail.
- A post-installation service delivered by our own in-house contracts team
If you have any additional questions or if you would like to schedule an on-site survey, please contact Westgate Solar Control at your convenience. One of our representatives will be very pleased to address your needs.
