Different types of window films offered by Westgate

Window films can be a very efficient and convenient product for upgrading existing glazing during renovation projects or removing typical annoyances such as overheating rooms and glare issues. Westgate offer a range of these window films that can deliver benefits whether it is summer or wintertime.

We understand that you could be staring at a whiteboard in school and the glare from the board is straining your eyes. Or perhaps you are window shopping and can’t get a clear view of the product you are interested in as the glare makes you think you’re looking into a mirror, this is where a range of heat and glare window films really come in handy.

Heat Reduction Window Film

This type of window film is especially useful in working environments such as schools and offices, this is because comfort is a priority when you are working all day, it’s not like you’re relaxing at home! These films work by reflecting the heat due to the mirrored appearance to one side.

Heat reflective films are designed to create a manageable and controlled room environment, which also reduces the load on cooling systems.

UV Window Film

UV light produced by the sun is regularly associated with health issues, but it can also affect general day-to-day items if they are exposed for too long. This includes items that are in windows of shops. museums, galleries etc. Over exposure to UV rays produced by the sun through a pane of glass will result in a “fading” process. To protect this, a UV window film is implemented so that the item still receives the same amount of natural light whilst eliminating 99.9% of UV light.

High Glare Reduction Window Film

No prizes for guessing the purpose of this type of window film unfortunately! This window film does indeed prevent glare. There are both primary and direct glare issues and secondary screen based glare issues to consider in this age of digital technology. Both these types of glare cause eyestrain, loss of concentration and create unproductive environments, but can be easily prevented.

If you are looking to purchase the high glare range, then this will offer up to 90% glare reduction, depending on the level of tint you opt for. Also the lower the level of tint the more natural light you can expect to retain in to the room.

There are two key times of year for glare, the first being the obvious summer months with long, hot, sunny days, at least we hope! The second is the early winter months where many environments suffer the effects of prolonged low winter sun, that same one that stops you from seeing the road when you are driving!

If you are looking for any kind of window film in order to prevent glare or even to keep your plants alive as long as possible, then take a look at Westgate Solar Control to explore the other kinds of window film that we provide.
