3 Reasons to install solar control window film in your museum

There’s a variety of things to think about when running a visitor attraction such as a museum or historical place of interest; acquisition of artefacts and new exhibitions to name just two, but solar control probably does not feature high on the agenda.

Here at Westgate Solar Control, we provide window film solutions for all types of buildings, including museums and we have a range of films that can help with a number of common solar issues.

Here are 3 reasons to consider installing window film today.

Reduced Fading

Fading can be a problem in museums and art galleries. Over time, fading can dramatically alter the appearance of priceless artefacts, furniture and paintings. Whilst it may not be noticeable at first, the results can be extreme in the long run. 90% of fading is attributed to the three wavebands of solar energy: ultraviolet radiation, visible light and infra-red radiation (heat). To combat this, a UV reduction film can be placed over your windows to reduce fading and ensure your treasured pieces remain unaffected. Our window film offers triple layer UV protection (which is superior to any other UV window film) and cuts out 99.9% of UV light. Crucially, you retain optimum clarity.

Reduced Glare

Visitors being able to clearly view your museum pieces in a comfortable environment is essential. Our anti-glare films reduce both summer and winter glare to help you achieve this. We offer three different films in a light, medium or dark tint. For maximum reduced glare capabilities, we have the High Glare Reduction films but if you’re looking to retain more of your building’s aesthetics then we have the Standard Glare Reduction films. (both types are available in light, medium or dark tint) Our films are great for delivering maximum visibility for your visitors all year round.

Increased Security

Our safety films use multiple layers of polyester and strong laminating adhesives which help to protect your building, and any visitors from shattered glass. Because of the increased protection, the films also work to increase security against break-ins. Break-ins and thefts from museums can not only be financially devastating but culturally devastating too; especially if particularly old or represents something of real significance.

Whether you want to reduce fading and glare, or increase security in your museum, Westgate Solar Control window film solutions can help you achieve this. With up to 10 years guarantee on products and professional and reliable UK installers, our work is approved by both the National Trust and the National Gallery.
